Flag Rant is a curatorial project I have been running since 2019. Invited artists are given carte blanche to produce a flag in a "standard" 1500x1000mm format. So far, 90 flags have been produced across three editions.

By inviting artists to take hold of the flag, the power contained in this object is subverted: these are no longer markers of power or identity symbols but a medium taken up by individuals from varied backgrounds. At the same time, the exhaustion of the medium desacralises the flag, bringing icons back to their status as images.
